Competition - it drives us to become better athletes. It pushes us to get in another rep when we want to rest. It can also cause us to cut corners. When it comes down to it, many of us are sacrificing our form, technique, and range of motion in order to get faster times for bragging rights, etc. We all know that a pull-up doesn't really count if our chin doesn't get over the bar. Why isn't it the same when our chest doesn't touch the ground on a push-up, or when we don't get deep enough on a squat, or when we don't come up all the way on a sit-up?

Fran is one of my favorite WODs, but I did not feel it today. I was 32 seconds slower than previous.
This morning times:
Andy: 7:12
Norberto: 9:49
Liliana : 17:02
All RX...Great Job, Liliana, on 1st "Fran" RX!
Good points Jason. I think we're all guilty of sacrificing form and technique to get through a WOD. Especially when fatigue sets in. I think we just all need to be conscious of it ourselves and be fair to ourselves if and when we miss a pull up or a pushup by not counting that rep.
Fran was ok today. I'm happy with my time considering the condition of my hands.
Oh and yes, congrats to the wifey. It was cute to watch her struggle on her first Fran Rx.
I agree the faster you go the harder it becomes to keep form especially on Annie as the last 30 reps of each exercise are killer due to muscle fatigue. The competition is what makes me better and pushes me through the pain threshold even further. The competition with myself and others.
Fran should be interesting, I am sure all our hands hurt and our upper bodies are sore form the workout yesterday.
My last Fran was 6:30 (a few months ago), I am shooting for a 5 tonight. This workout for me is personal competition as I want to beat my old time.
Yeah I miss working out... Good job everyone, I hope to get back to the gym sometime this week.
Hey thanks everyone. Jason, I think you noticed that I was getting ready to drop the weight during those first 5 reps. Thank you for showing me how to get that weight up there. I know sometimes it seems like I give up to easy, but the truth is that I have to stop being scared and I do have to focus more on my form.
This workout wasn't perfect for me, but it proved to me that I can do it and with motivation I CAN do the RX weight. Thanks Jason!!!
