John on the pull ups while Andy bangs out the air squats during "Barbara." While the entire work out only uses your body weight, it is deceivingly difficult to get through. Just ask John - he was laying on the ground recovering for about 30 minutes afterwards! Props to John though for finishing in the fastest time. He also called out today's WOD before it went up.

Monday 090119

Rest Day.


This is my boy, Kaiser. I've had him since he was 3 weeks old. I actually bottle fed him the first week I had him. We used to run 2 miles and ride 2 miles almost every day. He doesn't run far any more, but he's still owns the neighborhood! I'll bring him up to the gym when it warms up.

Jeff Delgado, a good friend of mine from Oklahoma, stopped by for his first CrossFit workout. We went to high school together and have stayed in touch ever since. He was one guy you didn't want to tangle with in the streets, but I can honestly say I just kicked his butt in the gym!

The field size will be capped at a maximum of 32,500 participants, which includes a maximum of 2,000 participants for the 5K Fitness Walk; registration will close when this limit is reached. Chicago Marathon, 081012. I ran a PR of 3:34:59, about 5 minutes faster than my previous best. I think that CrossFit played the biggest part in my improvement. A few other runners (not CrossFitters) I know were not able to keep pace because of the heat. We were all shooting for 3:30 times, but they fell back to the late 3:40's and even 3:50's.

For weighted pull-ups place a 45 pound dumbbell between the legs above crossed ankles and jettison the dumbbell after third rep and continue with strict pull-ups and then the kipping pull-ups. Coming off the bar or going to ground constitutes termination of a set.

My first homemade plyo box jump! Even though the cuts are a bit jagged and don't line up completely, she's still pretty solid. I've got a few more in the works that should be a bit easier on the eye. I don't usually like to copy and paste photos from the main site, but I thought this was great! It seems that some typical gym didn't like a few of its members actually getting in real workouts
at their facility. They see someone doing kettle bell or dumbbell swings, clean and jerks, or kipping pull-ups, and they assume the movements are not safe. That's the difference between a regular gym and a CrossFit gym. At a CrossFit gym, you're essentially getting a personal training session during each workout. If you're doing something wrong/unsafe, you'll hear about it. At a regular gym, you have to pay a trainer $50-$80/session for the instruction with only a small fraction of the workout.
